I have for the first time had an estate with accounts at RBS and like NatWest, they only allow firms of solicitors to contact them through their portal. However, I found that as I am not a solicitor, I wasn’t able to register and have therefore had to get a colleague who is a solicitor to allow himself to be registered. Obviously all communication will be with him which he will then need to forward to me. Don’t they realise that in many firms of solicitors administration of estates is not necessarily carried out by a fee earner who is a solicitor. I presume others have experienced this Inconvenience also.

It can indeed be inconvenient when certain financial institutions restrict communication to solicitors through their portals, especially in cases where estate administration is handled by non-solicitor staff in law firms. Many in similar situations may have encountered this issue.
