Hambro Family Trust

I am dealing with an estate where there are considerable assets (over £400k) invested within a HAMBRO FAMILY TRUST. It was created in the 1980s, and it seems that the original document has been lost (not by us!) in the passing of time.

The document carries the reference T5, and I would be grateful if anyone could let me have a copy of a full document (redacted, of course) so that I may see the terms of the trust.

I am grateful for any assistance that can be offered.

I’m guessing that this would have been a trust created around a Hambro Life policy, so might be a “loan trust”, “reverter to settlor” trust or a full discretionary trust… Hambro Life became Allied Dunbar and were taken over by Zurich - have you seen their helpful website page for lost policy details - https://www.zurich.co.uk/support/gone-aways? Assuming that the underlying policy has long-since been encashed, they may still be able to help you if you have the settlor’s details and address and should have a copy of the executed deed. Failing that, they may be able to find the T5 template.

If that doesn’t lead anywhere, try Technical Connection - they have consultants who were wording during that era and may well have documents - http://www.technicalconnection.co.uk. Good luck!
