Attestation of will

The attestation of a will has been correctly completed save that one witness has signed, provided their address but placed their Christian name initials and surname i.e. R S Smith as opposed to Robert Stanley Smith. Is the attestation valid?

Yes. Section 9 WA 1837 provides that the witness must “attest and sign the will”. Assuming they did so attest in accordance with section 9, the name and address is otiose in terms of valid execution but rather essential in terms of identifying a witness, should you need to, in the fullness of time.
