Do you retire a deceased trustee?

Hi everyone

I have a trust with 2 trustees where one has now died. Does the remaining trustee have to retire the deceased trustee within a Deed of Appointment or can they just go ahead and appoint new trustees to act with them?

It seems strange to me to “retire” someone and refer to them as the retiring trustee when they are dead!

Thanks

No, there is no need for a deceased trustee to retire; you just recite that they have died in future deeds.
