Foreign bankruptcy searches

This might seem obvious query but I suppose I am seeking some reassurance that my actions are appropriate.

A beneficiary is due to receive about £6,000 from an estate (to which I am one of the executors (the other is a lay executor).

The beneficiary has US residency but informs me that he now lives in UAE and has also lived in Qatar in last couple of years. Presumably, a bankruptcy search should be completed in all three places?

I hesitate because the Qatar search is £85 plus VAT through an agent but the disbursement in Qatar is £540! Searches for this particular beneficiary (US, UAE and Qatar) are going to total £941. I intend to deduct this from the estate (I have looked at earlier comments which seem to agree that such searches can be deducted from residue).

I would welcome your comments.

Better safe than sorry. Might be best to ask your professional indemnity insurers what they would like you to do. That would also help when explaining the costs to the beneficiaries.
