French Notaire demanding Customs Certificate

We have an English Grant of Probate which we are attempting to use in France. An apostille certificate of the Grant and the various documents has been supplied, but the French Notaire has come back and asked for a customs certificate.

The custom certificate serves to justify the rules of British law that we are required to apply in France.*

This is a document that British solicitors are accustomed to drawing up. We receive them very regularly without this causing any difficulties.

Does anyone know what the French Notaire is referring to and how or where to we go to get this done?

It now appears a British customs certificate was not what the French Notaire was asking for or requiring. They wanted a French certificate confirming divorce.
