I have an estate where we have a property that we need to get insured. The property is grade II listed, thatched, semi detached and has a rebuild value of £2.7 million (although the probate value was much lower, as is the sale price agreed). We are having immense difficultly finding an insurer that will provide cover, I wondered if anyone here has anybody that they can recommend.
Have you tried Brown & Brown ( formerly Higos insurance brokers). 01458 675627. They’ve been able to find/place cover for Reno projects so may be able to assist or perhaps point you in the right direction if not.
At a seminar I recently attended, the sponsors – Private Client Services (Home - Private Client Services) – talked about their ability to arrange insurance for empty properties.

Let me throw in my few pearls of wisdom. We are based in Suffolk the home of thatched cottages. Bury St Edmunds National Farmers Union may be able to help (their Katie Gill - tel: 01284 701 144). The Country Land Agents Assoc may also be able to help, as well perhaps as the National Trust to point you in the right direction.
Otherwise I would try that old longstop - Lloyds and you might start with Hiscocks.
If that all fails how about Google or even putting an advert in Farmers Weekly or Country Life for help?
Yours sincerely, Peter Double / Probate Resealing Services.
With that value, I’d be inclined to use a specialist, particularly with the other elements like it being Grade II listed and thatched. Perhaps speak to Rob Faulkener at this company: https://insuristic.co.uk/
