Releasing a will to a single executor

If joint executors are appointed. Can the will be released to only one or do both executors need to agree? I ask because one sister has asked for the will of her recently deceased dad which I fear her sister would not want her to have.

I would only release the will on the joint instructions of the executors; particularly if you suspect one of them might disagree to the other having it.

If the executors cannot agree, perhaps lodge the will with the Probate Registry with an explanation of the issue.

I have this problem currently and the SRA have given me the same advice - to try and obtain authority and if not forthcoming within 21 days to send the original will to the Probate Registry - do you think the will should be sent with a form PA18?

Is it as simple as just wanting to know for certain what the will says? If so, could you work round the problem by giving the sisters a copy each and saying helpfully that you’ll keep the original until the application for probate is actually made…?
