Roll back life interest trusts

H & W owned 3 houses as TIC. Wife died in March this year. Their only son T is the remainderman of the trusts. H inherits the residuary estate. H & T have been to see me and wish to have all the houses pass directly to H unencumbered by any trust. Would a Deed of Variation be the best route or to use s.144 of the Trustees Act or indeed is their a better option.

Thanks for your advice.

s.144 IHTA isn’t applicable to IIP trusts so it would have to be a DoV under s.142.
