Step-grandchild

I have a Will where the residue is left to the deceased’s grandchildren.

The clause includes wording to say that the expression grandchildren includes X and gives X’s name and address.

X is not in fact a grandchild of the deceased, but rather an ex-step-grandchild.

In the circumstances, would X be a residuary beneficiary of the estate?

Thanks in advance!

I would say yes. If the term ‘grandchildren’ has been specially stated for the purposes of the Will to include X, then X would be included in the definition, notwithstanding the fact that X wouldn’t have been included had the definition not been amended.
