Hi all,
Has anyone encountered any instances where a UK national domiciled in South Africa receives negative tax consequences for their general income in South Africa as a result of being named as a potential beneficiary in a UK discretionary trust, even when they have not and will not receive any income from said trust? I understand idea of UK-South Africa double taxation treaty possibly coming into play if there were any income.
I understand that this is something to check with a South African legal advisor for any degree of certainty, but just curious if anyone has run into it before.
Andrew.
