UK Will French Property

I have a client whose father died 3 years ago, there is a substantial house in France.

The UK will gives his estate to his daughter, stepdaughter and 2 grandchildren who are minors.

Nothing has been done with respect to the estate and the family have receive a fine from the French Authorities. The house is being used by the stepdaughter as an Air BNB so is receiving invoice.

Is anyone able to recommend a UK Based French solicitor who can advise on whether they need to get a grant in the UK or how to proceed in administering the estate in France

Rachel,

I would suggest that you contact maître Fanny Fumery a notaire in France who will be able to deal with the French aspects of the immovable property transfer under the Will, if it is applicable. Her English is excellent and she is entirely fluent over the telephone. There is not much that an English solicitor can do from England even if French speaking as the transfers have to be made by a notaire.

Her details are +33412057975; fanny.fumery@notaires.fr.

She practices from Grenoble and as a notaire has competence over the whole of France.

She may also be able to assist with the legal ramifications of the Air BNB issue or recommend someone.

Hope that helps, I am also available if you wish to discuss.

Thank you that is really helpful.

Hello

Notary Olivier Branellec is also very experienced in estate administration in France and is English speaking.
