I have been instructed on a matter where a grandmother left a share of the residuary estate to their grandchild contingent on reaching 18. The grandchild is still a minor. Due to the contingency, it can’t be a bare trust.
Does the grandchild qualify for the Vulnerable Person Election for tax purposes?
The grandchild’s mother had predeceased him so he does qualify as a relevant minor but he is receiving inheritance from a grandparent’s estate, not a parent’s estate.
Any views would be most welcome.
Thank you
