Hi All, my dad passed away recently and I am attempting to do probate myself. Does anyone know what IHT forms we have to fill in for my dads estate which consists of the following:
Savings: 70k
House (in trust): 135k
Money (in trust): 115k
Over 50s Life Insurance: £1500
My mum and dad who were still married but lived apart put both their houses in a Lifetime trust to avoid care home fees at the time. They along with my sister and myself are all trustees and beneficiaries. My mum died 4 years ago and the money from the sale of her house was put into the trust. My dad’s house is also part of the trust.

I would seriously suggest you get advice as the delays with the HMRC and the Probate Registry will cost you massive delays if you get it wrong and you could be talking up to a year. Your situation with Trusts etc is not straightforward.

Skip…this is not a straightforward Probate/IHT situation. The Trust will most likely be a GRoB just for a start…also, the care home fee planning that was done would not necessarily have worked. You have the chance to get all this sorted, put it right as it were, by instructing a professional.
