I have an estate where the deceased held approximately £50 across 3 accounts with Wise (formally TransferWise). In order to close the accounts and get the funds transferred to our client account, Wise are asking that we create a business account to “verify” ourselves. It seems to me to be very unnecessary and before I approach our accounts department about this, I wondered whether anyone else had any dealings with Wise (or TransferWise) previously and found a way around this?
I would ask if it is all worth it for £50? Won’t your costs exceed £50?

It is always hard to explain those types of business, like revolut, transwise. I would arrange a compliant to the complaint department so someone from a property human would review it.
But agree, it will cost more than £50.
My office is in Italy and I had the same problem with Revolut (citing Brexit complications!) and XE.com but so far not with Transferwise.
Thank you all for your input. After raising a complaint, they have finally confirmed they will accept a Grant of Probate along with a letter of authority from the Executors!
